INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
The onset of emotional distress can occur in many ways. It can begin with a feeling of disconnection from ourselves and others. It can feel like overwhelm. It can feel like past trauma revisiting. Any moment of crisis is influenced by childhood history, your personality and the type of life you are living now.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) explores the thought patterns which drive behaviours and enables changes in how we think and feel. Beyond this, Humanistic Psychotherapy explores more deeply the complexity of childhood experiences which influence how we live and interact with others. It is at this profound level that real change occurs.
Significant trauma - childhood abuse or neglect, life-threatening illness, unexpected life events - is supported at this deeper level through distinct processes such as clinical hypnotherapy, EMDR, somatic experiencing and constellation work (see my specialisms).
Individual therapy provides the opportunity to set goals and work gently towards good outcomes ever mindful of the emotional capacity and safety of the client.

FAMILY
Adolescence, this special time of growth, brings unique difficulties. No longer a child yet not quite an adult, this period of transition can create internal conflict and anger.
Parents and teachers do not always support the adolescent’s craving for independence. Peers have a profound influence and often send not-good-enough messages. It can feel impossible to fit into the world and symptoms emerge such as panic attacks, anxiety, overwhelm, loneliness. Establishing a sexual identity and escaping bullying are constant concerns.
Therapy provides a safe and non-judgemental space where an adolescent can figure out and practise who they want to be.
PARENTS
There is no school for parenting. Few parents are prepared for the truth that loving your child is not the same as parenting them. Because the growth of a child is an evolutionary process, parents have to grow and adapt also.
Questions come up such as:
Why has my child withdrawn?
Why is my child suddenly so angry?
Why can’t I get anything right?
Why does establishing boundaries create a fight?
Arc-Therapy offers solution-focused sessions to help establish boundaries and redefine relationships.
COUPLES
Arc-Therapy welcomes couples at any stage of their relationships. All couples benefit from some time put aside to nurture their relationship through its different stages.
For relationships to survive over time they must adapt and grow, be buoyant under stress and loving always. Losing the way is very common and support to recalibrate allows for new insights and personal growth.
